General Khalid Shameem Wynne (born 28 August 1953) is a retired Pakistani four-star general officer who tenured as the 14th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee before retiring on 7 October 2013. Prior to his promotion, the official statement noted that "General Wynne was appointed as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee by President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani."〔Shakil Shaikh. ("Gen Wyne new CJCSC" ) ''The News'', 29 September 2010〕 Before this appointment, Wynne was serving as the Chief of General Staff (CGS) at General Headquarters since April 2010.〔("Wyne made chief of general staff" ) ''Dawn'', 18 April 2010〕 He also served as field operational Commander of the XII Corps in Quetta from 2007 till 2010, overseeing the Baloch insurgency and the fallout of the war in the Tribal Areas.〔("Commanders to discuss security tomorrow" ) ''Dawn'', 15 April 2007〕 ==Early life== Wynne comes from an army background and hails from soldier-producing area of Sialkot. His father, Lieutenant Colonel Arshad Shameem Wynne served in the Pakistan Army till 1972. His unit was the 20th battalion of the Punjab Regiment. Wynne did the paratrooper course, and joined 20th Paratrooper Regiment of 50th Airborne Division of Pakistan Army. He got his earlier education from various cantonment schools all over Pakistan and joined Cadet College Hasan Abdal as special entry in 1969 after matriculation. He held a Colour for being a member of the College cricket team. His nephew is the professional Smite esports player Darrak Farooqi who plays for Team SoloMid.
